Tip & Overlay Workshop – NEW for 2010
Would you like to learn tip & overlay competition secrets from some of the UK’s leading nail winners? This unique workshop allows you to practice your skills and gain expert advice before competing in the Top Tech Tip & Overlay competition. The workshop is not exclusive to competition entrants, but provides the ideal grounding to gain the most marks possible. Remember you will need to bring your kit and a model.
Top Tech Tip & Overlay
The Top Tech categories are designed for technicians who can competently complete a set of Tip & Overlay competition nails in 2½ hours, using their chosen system, with one hand painted with two coats of red polish. This year all systems will be judged alongside each other, which allows you to really showcase your areas of skill regardless of the products you choose to use.
Top Tech Sculpt
Top Tech Sculpt requires you to complete a fully sculpted set of competition nails in 2½ hours, with one hand painted with two coats of red polish.
Salon Nail Challenge
If you’re not comfortable with producing ‘competition standard’ nails but want to showcase your salon work alongside your peers, then Salon Nail Challenge is for you. The judges are looking for the perfect set of salon nails using any of the products you would use in the salon, produced in 1½ hours.
Salon Nail Art Challenge
This competition challenges you to products wearable Permanent Nail Art using coloured acrylics, gels and glitters etc. Take inspiration from the latest nail trends along with styles you think your clients would wear, and create a stunning design that will wow the judges using the skills of encapsulation, 3D or others. You must complete your model’s right hand prior to the competition, and have 1½ hours to produce the rest.
Student Nail Challenge
Judges will be looking for the student who can produce the best set of nails to NVQ Level 2 standard demonstrating natural tip blending, choosing to work in one colour with one hand then painted in two coats of red polish, with a total competition time of 2½ hours.
Lecturers – will your students be named the best in the UK?

Judges are looking for ten decorated nails presented in a plain display box, over which the this theme is demonstrated. Designs can feature any nail artistry techniques or mediums, including 3D, encapsulation or flat paint. Remember to include your step-by-step to explain your creative process.
