CIBTAC

CIBTAC is an International Examination Board responsible for the education and training of Beauty and Holistic Therapists worldwide. It has built up its reputation over 25 years and is renowned for its high levels of training and strict quality control. There are now over 150 schools in 18 countries accredited to offer the prestigious CIBTAC Awards.

 

Citizens Advice Bureau

The Citizens Advice service helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice, and by influencing policymakers. Every Citizens Advice Bureau is a registered charity reliant on trained volunteers and funds to provide these vital services for local communities.

 

Department of Trade and Industry

DTI produce a range of free publications that are specifically designed to help those starting up in business. Online advice is also available, for business owners and employers.

Information for business owners, employers and employees on complying with the Disability Discrimination Act.

 

HABIA

Habia is the government approved standards setting body for beauty therapy, nail, spa and hairdressing, and creates the standards that form the basis of all qualifications including NVQs, Apprenticeships and codes of practice. A central point of contact for information, HABIA provide guidance on careers, business development, legislation, salon safety, equal opportunities, and are responsible to government on industry issues such as training and skills.

 

Health and Safety Executive

Britain's Health and Safety Commission (HSC) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are responsible for the regulation of almost all the risks to health and safety arising from work activity in Britain. Their mission is to protect people's health and safety by ensuring risks in the changing workplace are properly controlled.

 

HM Revenue & Customs (formerly Inland Revenue)

HMRC is responsible for collecting the bulk of tax revenue as well as paying tax credits and child benefit, and strengthening the UK’s frontiers. Contact them for information on Income, Corporation, Capital Gains, Inheritance, Insurance Premium, and Stamp duties, Environmental taxes, VAT, National Insurance, Tax Credits, Child Benefit and the Child Trust Fund, and enforcement of the National Minimum Wage.

 

Indoor Tanning Association

Founded in 1999, the Indoor Tanning Association (ITA) represents thousands of indoor tanning manufacturers, distributors, facility owners and members from other supporting industries.
The ITA was founded to protect the freedom of individuals to acquire a suntan, via natural or artificial light.
As part of their service to the industry and the tanning public, the ITA tracks legislative developments that potentially have a bearing on indoor tanning activities.

The Federation of Holistic Therapists

The Federation of Holistic Therapists is the largest association in the UK, representing over 20,000 professional therapists. Founded in 1962 the FHT is a non-profit making organisation who, by setting industry standards, ensure best practice for Therapists and their clients. No other UK association has influenced the acceptance of Complementary Therapies in the UK more than the FHT. The FHT welcomes applications from therapists in the UK and overseas.

 

The Freelance Hair and Beauty Federation

The Freelance Hair and Beauty Federation is a non profit making organisation that exists to promote the Interests of freelance Hair stylists and Beauty Therapists within the industry and to provide benefits and services for its members, including low cost public liability insurance, Total Business Solutions, training opportunities and much more. The F.H.B.F. is the industry's only official representative body for the Freelance Operator and works closely with leading manufacturers, training providers and other trade organisations for the benefit of its members.
